Windows 8 & 8.1 — Adding, Connecting & Disconnecting Bluetooth Audio Devices

Описание:
NOTE:
This technique works on BOTH Windows 8 AND Windows 8.1 OS.
This video is intended for AUDIO DEVICES ONLY — Headsets, Speakers, Headphones, ETC. It is not intended to help or assist in connecting or disconnecting devices intended for data transfer, programming or any other use through Bluetooth. Audio only.

Here's how to add, delete, disconnect, and connect all the audio speakers and mics you attach to Windows 8 via a Bluetooth connection, HDMI, or any other way.

Also learn how to create a shortcut on Start or the Desktop, to quickly access all of your audio devices and mics, and disconnect/connect them quickly.

There is no reason to install or change the drivers that came on your computer. Just follow these easy steps.

Other Notes:
If you have more than one Bluetooth audio device connected at once, there are two ways to pick the one you want to use.
1) Select the playback device you want to use and hit "Set Default"
OR
2) disconnect all other devices so that the desired device is the one remaining.
Personally, I feel like method #1 is easier. If you have a different method you think is even better, please leave a comment to help me and someone else find a better way too.

When connecting Bluetooth Speakers, check to make sure your device is in discovery mode. If Windows 8 doesn't connect it with it, check your manufacturers directions.

For HDMI Devices, if the audio is missing, click on your TV device, and hit properties, and check the levels tab. If it isn't, turn it up to 100. Now try it.

Headphones plugged into my headphone jack will not appear, as they are part of my "Speakers — Realtek High Definition Audio" tab. Bluetooth ones however, will.

Some devices will not display a "Connect/Disconnect" feature, but "Disable/Enable" only. Through some testing on my part, I discovered that my devices that showed only these options, worked the same. Disable/Enable is virtually the same thing. (Tests done using my HDTV and Built-In Laptop Speakers)

Sorry about the audio, I had to use my built-in mic on my laptop — I have since purchased a real mic. Ironic that a video about Bluetooth audio has crappy audio eh?

Other than that, there's not much I can tell you without knowing more about your issue.

This is driving me crazy- the only way i can reconnect a device is to restart my computer or delete and then re-add the device.

Brandon Neubert пишет: I tried a few of my devices, and on my HDTV, connected through HDMI, it displays the same thing, without a connect/disconnect feature, but a disable/enable feature. Using that instead of disconnect/connect worked in the same way. I repeated the test using my bluetooth speaker to the same effect. Have you already tried using the disable/enable feature, in exchange for the connect/disconnect? It seems to work in the same way. If not, it must be something with the device itself. Does that help?

AJ72Camaro пишет: Thanks Brandon. Very helpful video.
CBayWolf16 , you kind of have to do it backwards. Highlight the sound device you want to use, then set it as default. It will disconnect from the current device (external bluetooth, for example) to the device you set as the default. If you want to switch back to the external bluetooth device, just set is a the default. It's not much different than disabling a device, but seems a little easier for me.

Brandon Neubert пишет: Bluetooth speakers can typically be linked to only one device at a time. I personally have my speaker always disabled on each of those devices, and when I want to pair it, I enable it. That way, my phone won't connect automatically, and I won't be frustrated trying to figure out why my speaker won't connect to the computer. On Windows 8, right-click on the device in "Sound Settings", and hit "disable", then "enable" when you want to use it. Other devices, like phones, vary on how this is done.

soulfuldragon пишет: Great video. Sadly, I cannot get the shortcut to pin to my taskbar. Just won't happen. If I search for sound it pops up and right clicking it gives me the option to unpin it from my taskbar, but it isn't actually on my taskbar. Still, I can tolerate it being on my desktop versus not having it at all. Thanks for this. I like to switch between using headphones and my speakers so this is a lifesaver.

Maybe you mean the mic? It should be listed under the "Recording" tab. If it's not there, unfortunately I don't know what to tell you. Best of luck! And thanks for the comment.

It should have been very simplistic common sense to give you the option to disconnect the device and not only remove it. This is what happens when you offshore your development. You get back garbage.

Brandon Neubert пишет: Try giving this a shot:
Rename the shortcut you pasted to the "%appdata%\microsoft\windows\Start Menu\Programs\" folder something unique — like "Batman" or something obvious, then search for that same name. This might help the computer find it. Once you've found and pinned it to the start screen, rename it inside that same start folder from "Batman" to "Audio Devices" or whatever you'd like. Its name will change on the start screen.
Maybe that'll work.
